Next Conference

The 2020 BASR Annual Conference will be a one-day, online event, hosted by the Open University’s department of Religious Studies. The schedule is as follows:
9:00 – 9:30 | Welcome and orientation from conference organiser David Robertson, BASR President Bettina Schmidt, and Head of OU Religious Studies John Maiden.
9:30 – 11:00 | Teaching and Learning panel, including open discussion on the COVID-19 pivot to online delivery (curated by current T&L Fellow, Dawn Llewellyn and BASR T&L rep, Stefanie Sinclair)
11:30 – 1:00 | ‘Worldviews’ in religious education (curated by Wendy Dossett)
2:00 – 4:00 | BASR AGM

The event is free, and registration is not required. A link to the Teams event will be available at on the day, and will be circulated by email ahead of the event. Send a blank email with the subject line “REGISTRATION” to if you wish to be included in the email communication.

Future conferences

The conference page for the upcoming 2020 conference has been updated. The conference will now be a virtual event, free to attend. A link will be made available on the conference page nearer the time.

The 2021 conference be held in the School of Divinity at the University of Edinburgh. Please stay tuned for more information and a formal Call for Papers.
